About The Organization
The ECON Queen is dedicated to empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills to achieve excellence in academics, personal finance, and life skills. Our mission is to educate and empower communities through tutoring, financial literacy classes, and home economics workshops.
The Story, The Vision
The ECON Queen came to life in August of 2021 in Denton, TX. The founder, Alyceson-Grace Eke, sought to combine the concept of self-empowerment with tutoring services and financial literacy education, all under a theme of intrinsic royalty. The incorporation of life skills lessons (Also known as Adulting 101 or Home Economics) came from the discovery of home economics being phased out of many K-12 systems and the realization that not everyone was raised with knowledge some people consider "common sense."
Initially, the organization was run by a collective now known as "The Original Six." The Six - Alyceson-Grace E., N'Kima B., Daijah A., Zion J., Donshea J., and Andrew W. - specialized in different subjects and found opportunities for The ECON Queen to teach financial literacy to students. With the majority of the team coming from marginalized backgrounds, the focus was primarily to bridge institutional gaps to help eliminate the consequences of systemic inequality.
Over the years, The ECON Queen has matured to focus on providing premier educational services and uplifting communities through financial literacy workshops and curriculum. Through TEQ's maturity, the composition of the team changed, too - From The Original Six came 3:43, then 3:43 Queens. The Royal Family, the current name for the collective including learners and clients, focus on the call to "Claim Your Crown," regardless of grades or finances. The individual achievement, to "Claim Your Crown," is the experience we strive for with each person we engage within The Royal Family.
